… shows when it comes to sexual assault.
The gist of it is that the author or the piece was raped by a colleague, when she went for counseling she was victim-blamed, when she decided to report it anyway the Disney employees who should have been able to point her in the right direction didn’t have a clue — and when she finally reported it, every victim-blaming and obfuscation possible was thrown at her.
The thing is, Disney has thousands of young adults living and working on their property. It’s like a corporate college campus with dorms etc.. For them NOT to have well-established procedures to handle sexual assault is just plain wrong. It might be that their corporate policy IS to call the police, while a counselor works with the victim — BUT, the fact that it isn’t addressed by their training etc.. is just plain wrong.
